For Boston, the new year ushers in an abundance of diverse dance. From Boston Ballet to Brazilian flair and French hip-hop, The Boston Dance Journal rounded up a list of performances for the city to look forward to in the winter months of 2018.

Grupo Corpo
January 26– 28
Boch Center Shubert Theatre

With the flair and vibrancy of Brazil, Grupo Corpo returns to the Boston Celebrity Series to share its renown qualities of “physicality, dynamic ability and rich visual finesse” in new works by Rodrigo Pederneiras, Suite Branca and Danca Sinfonica.

BB@Home with Boston Ballet II
February 1–2
Boston Ballet’s South End headquarters, 19 Clarendon St.


The second company of Boston Ballet’s black box theater performance of Christopher Wheeldon’s The American, the pas de deux from George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes, Yury Yanowsky’s Trazom and Peter Stark’s Gopak. A discussion will follow with American stager Michele Gifford, Mr. Yanowsky and Miranda Weese, Boston Ballet’s children’s ballet master, former principal dancer with New York City Ballet, and a major interpreter of Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes.
